We had a fantastic first meeting of Surrey and London Silk Artists (SaLSA) this afternoon. June, Laura and I met up in the Mad Hatter and had a fantastic conversation about all sorts of interesting things. We have gone away inspired to create!

We looked at examples of our work - June had done some fantastic things with devore and chiffon, and told us about her latest commissions; I brought some samples of microwave dyeing and some pictures; and Laura told us about her felting and her recent projects.
We talked about
* Dyeing silk in the microwave
* Craft fairs and exhibitions we had been to, or that were coming up in the near future
* Teaching taster sessions
* Ways to take good photographs with digital cameras
* The best way to display silk scarves, and techniques for making screens
* Felting chiffon
* Mounting multi-layer pieces
We are looking forward to the next meeting, which will be on Sunday 10th April (see website for further details http://www.silkartists.org.uk), and hope to see you there.
This is not just for people who currently paint on silk - anyone with an interest is most welcome to attend.
